Leadership Crisis Hits Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF)

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) is currently facing a leadership crisis characterized by a fierce internal power struggle. Alhaji Bashir M.

Dalhatu, the chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, issued a statement asserting that recent leadership changes were necessary to protect the forum's integrity. He accused Mallam Murtala Aliyu, the forum's Secretary General, of resisting these changes and attempting to undermine the ACF's structure.

The Board of Trustees has mandated Aliyu to vacate his office by May 15, 2026, due to alleged breaches of tenure. Despite this, Aliyu's camp has strongly contested the Board's authority to impose such changes.

Tensions escalated when police were reportedly deployed to ACF headquarters to prevent a scheduled meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), which was described as an unlawful act by the Board. The Kaduna State Police Command denied sealing the ACF office.

This crisis reflects broader issues within Nigerian institutions, where disputes over constitutional interpretations often lead to factional conflicts.
