Court Upholds Death Sentence for Kebbi Woman in Ex-Husband's Murder Case

The Court of Appeal in Sokoto Division upheld the death sentence of Farida Abubakar for the murder of her ex-husband in Kebbi State. The appeal was dismissed by a three-man panel led by Justice Tunde Oyebamiji Awotoy, citing the sufficiency of evidence to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Zainab Muhammad Jabbo, presented 12 witnesses and several exhibits during the trial. Farida Abubakar's appeal was found to lack merit, affirming the conviction and sentence delivered by the High Court in Kebbi State on June 3, 2024.
