Adamawa Police Bans Vigilante Groups for LG Elections

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced a ban on local security outfits, including vigilante groups and the Civilian Joint Task Force (Civilian JTF), from participating in the local government elections scheduled for June 13. This decision was communicated by the command's spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroj, who emphasized that only formal security agencies, notably the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), will be involved in maintaining security during the elections.
To ensure a peaceful electoral process, adequate personnel and operational assets will be deployed across the 21 local government areas (LGAs). Nguroj clarified that the deployment will cover polling units and ward collation centers to guarantee the safety of voters, electoral officials, and materials.
Additionally, there will be restrictions on human and vehicular movement throughout the state from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on election day, although these restrictions will not apply to accredited electoral officials, observers, and media practitioners.
