Adamawa State to Enhance Health Workers' Training Program

The Adamawa State Government is set to expand its leadership, governance, and management capacity-strengthening programme for health workers to all 21 local government areas and health facilities statewide. Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA), made this announcement during a meeting with a team from Development Governance International (DGI) Consult, led by CEO Dr. Gafar Alawode.
The initiative aims to enhance the leadership and management capabilities of various health worker cadres, particularly frontline personnel. Bashir indicated plans to include this training in the state's 2027 operational plan and seek funding for its implementation.
The programme is part of the Enhancing Leadership, Governance and Management Capacities (ELGMC) project, under the Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (SARAH) project, implemented by UNICEF and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Chubado Muhammed Jada, the state Commissioner for Health, expressed the government's commitment to collaborate with UNICEF and DGI for the project's success.
