UNICEF and DGI Consult Enhance Health Leadership Training
UNICEF, through DGI Consult's Enhancing Leadership, Governance and Management Capacities (ELGMC) Project, conducted training for local government health managers and frontline health workers in Adamawa, Kwara, and Sokoto states. The training aimed to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve health outcomes by focusing on practical leadership, management, governance, and problem-solving skills.
It specifically targeted the implementation of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) programs. The project coordinator, Wole Alawode, stated that the training addressed gaps identified in previous facility assessments.
Dr Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, the executive chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, emphasized the importance of strengthening leadership and management at local levels to prevent avoidable deaths among vulnerable populations. Dr Gafar Alawode, CEO of DGI Consult, noted that the intervention aimed to equip health teams with practical skills to develop replicable solutions for service delivery challenges.
