Adamawa State Launches Vaccination Campaign for 1.4M Kids

Adamawa State is set to launch a vaccination campaign aimed at immunizing 1.4 million children from March 29 to April 1, 2024. The campaign, organized by the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) in collaboration with UNICEF, will cover all 21 local government areas and 226 electoral wards in the state.

Dr. Saidu Bashir, the Executive Chairman of ADSPHCDA, announced the initiative, emphasizing its goal to save children's lives and encourage parents to present their children for immunization.

Following the initial four-day campaign, an additional two-day mop-up exercise will ensure that all targeted children are reached. Although Nigeria is certified polio-free, the campaign aims to sustain efforts against emerging health challenges.

Jennifer Dabo from UNICEF and Vincent Babangida Usman from the World Health Organization highlighted the importance of media support in dispelling misinformation about vaccinations, while Dr. David Birtli urged media practitioners to provide accurate information to the public.
