Adamawa to Launch Second Phase of Immunization Program

Adamawa State is preparing to flag off the second phase of the national immunization plus program, targeting 1,301,795 children aged 0 to 59 months. The initiative will take place from May 2 to May 5 across 21 local governments and 226 electoral wards.

Dr. Jacob Vusumu, the Director of Disease Control and Immunization at the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA), noted that the state received 1,584,740 doses of vaccines for this exercise, which will be conducted by 154 teams, including those in hard-to-reach areas.

The first round of the immunization program was deemed successful, and the upcoming phase aims to consolidate those gains. Dr.

Bashir Sulaiman, the Executive Chairman of ADSPHCDA, commended the media for their role in promoting health campaigns, while UNICEF representative Jennif Dabo emphasized the need to sustain progress in tackling health challenges faced by women and children in Nigeria.
