Fintiri Set to Join APC, Strengthening Political Control

Ahmadu Fintiri, the Governor of Adamawa State, is poised to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political shift that will consolidate APC's control across 30 of Nigeria's 36 states. This defection is particularly impactful as it occurs in Atiku Abubakar's home state, where Abubakar is a major contender for the presidency in 2027.

Fintiri's move is anticipated to bolster Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign and weaken Abubakar's political influence. A grand reception for Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is scheduled, symbolizing the APC's growing presence in Kano, a politically significant region.

The event is expected to further solidify APC's dominance in the North West and South South geopolitical zones. Fintiri's anticipated defection has been fueled by strategic political realignments, with APC sources indicating that his formal joining may occur around April, coinciding with Tinubu's visit to Adamawa.
