ADC Accuses ICPC of Blocking Access to El-Rufai

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of obstructing its leaders from visiting former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who is currently in the custody of the anti-graft agency. In a statement issued on Friday, ADC National Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, along with Rauf Aregbesola and Salihu Lukman, reported that three truckloads of armed police officers were deployed to the ICPC headquarters in Abuja to prevent their visit.

The ADC claimed that despite a formal request for access to El-Rufai, the ICPC denied them entry without reason. The situation escalated as the ADC described the police presence as unnecessary and disproportionate, creating an atmosphere of intimidation.

The party expressed concerns over the treatment of opposition figures and warned against the harassment of its leaders. They demanded that the ICPC grant unrestricted access to El-Rufai, who they stated had voluntarily submitted to authorities and deserved fair treatment.
