ADC Declares El-Rufai Prisoner of Conscience, Calls for Release

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) held its 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, where it declared former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai a "prisoner of conscience" and demanded his immediate release. The resolution was part of a series of decisions approved by the NEC in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, which concluded with a communiqué signed by ADC National Public Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, recognized El-Rufai's situation and called for his release. Additionally, the NEC endorsed the outcomes of the party's primary elections for various offices across the country, excluding those facing pending appeals.

The NEC also approved an extension of the tenure of the National Working Committee (NWC) for an additional 12 months and established a caretaker committee at zonal, state, local government, and ward levels for a period of one year.
