ADC Alleges Plot to Arrest Aregbesola Before Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alerted the public about an alleged scheme by security agencies to arrest its National Secretary, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, in the lead-up to the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

The party claims to have credible information regarding this plan and warns that such an arrest could exacerbate political tensions in the state. In a statement released on Wednesday by the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party expressed its concerns over a pattern of intimidation and misuse of state institutions against opposition figures.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State and former Minister of the Interior, is expected to coordinate the party's activities during the election. The ADC emphasized that if security agencies have legitimate reasons to question Aregbesola, they should adhere to established legal procedures rather than resorting to an arrest perceived as politically motivated.

The party cautioned that such an action could be interpreted as an attempt to hinder Aregbesola's ability to lead and coordinate the party's election efforts.
