ADC South-West Backs Aregbesola, Dismisses Removal Claims

The South-West leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly backed the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, dismissing allegations calling for his removal as baseless. The zonal leadership, led by National Vice Chairman Akinbowale Omole, clarified that the National Executive Committee, not Aregbesola, approved the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections.

This statement followed a meeting attended by various party officials, including Capt. Olatunji Shelle and Mrs.

Omolara Oseni. Omole stated that the petition for Aregbesola's removal was authored by individuals claiming to represent the ADC in the South-West, a claim not recognized by the national leadership.

The leadership criticized these petitioners as "disgruntled elements" loyal to Kachikwu Ibe and Leke Abejide, who recently lost a legal battle. They emphasized that the allegations against Aregbesola were unsubstantiated and highlighted his constitutional role in implementing decisions made by the party’s highest organs.
