ADC Alerts FG Over Alleged Plot to Arrest Aregbesola

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns regarding an alleged plan by the Federal Government to arrest its National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, just days before the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15. In a statement issued on Wednesday by ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the party claimed to have received credible reports of these moves, suggesting they could be part of a broader pattern of intimidation against opposition figures.

Aregbesola, a former Governor of Osun State and former Minister of Interior under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, is currently serving as the ADC's National Secretary. The ADC argued that if security agencies had legitimate reasons to question Aregbesola, they should adhere to legal procedures rather than making an arrest close to the election.

The party warned that such actions could undermine the election's credibility and escalate tensions in Osun State, urging the administration of President Bola Tinubu to avoid actions that could lead to a crisis.
