ADC Conflict Over Kaduna Governorship Candidate Nomination

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State is facing internal conflict over the nomination of its governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru. The appeal committee, led by Dr.

Mustapha Fagg, announced a separate verdict declaring Shu Aibu Idri Mikat as the party's flagbearer. Dr.

Mikailu Ibrahim Barau, a member of the appeal committee, upheld the primary election results that produced Ashiru as the candidate, arguing that his nomination remains valid. Barau criticized the process that led to the substitution of Ashiru's name, claiming it did not represent the collective decision of the committee.

He urged the national secretariat to disregard the announcement made in Abuja and called for a review of the committee's official draft report. The committee's decision has been described as lacking proper consensus and has raised concerns about internal democracy within the party.

Despite the division, Fagg's committee upheld Mikat's candidacy based on the highest number of valid votes cast during the primary election.
