ADC Seeks Court Order to Restore Mark and Aregbesola's Names

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, requesting an order to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to restore the names of Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola. The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, was initiated by counsel Sulaiman Usman, representing the plaintiffs, and is set for a motion hearing on April 7.

This legal action stems from a March 12 judgment related to a leadership dispute within the ADC, which involved former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Gomb and Justice James Omotosho. The plaintiffs are seeking three major reliefs, including a mandatory injunction directing INEC to reinstate the names of Mark and Aregbesola on its official portal.

The ADC is currently facing a leadership crisis, with rival factions claiming recognition of the party's structure, and the outcome of this suit may determine the status of the names in question pending the resolution of the substantive suit.
