ADC Leader Urges Justice for El-Rufai Amid Trials

Jafar Ibrahim Sani, the former North-West National Vice Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), called on Northern elders and political leaders to adhere to due process in the trial of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State. In a statement titled “El-Rufai, The North, Our Elders and the Test of Loyalty,” Sani urged ADC political stakeholders to unite and advocate for justice in El-Rufai’s case.

He expressed concern over the current political culture where loyalty is conditional and often abandoned during adversities. Sani acknowledged that opinions about El-Rufai may vary but insisted that his contributions to Nigeria's public life are significant.

He lamented the lack of support from those who previously stood by El-Rufai, stressing that true loyalty is tested during difficult times. Sani emphasized that political differences should not compromise fairness and due process, asserting that justice should guide the response to El-Rufai’s situation, potentially leading to his lawful release if warranted.
