Northern Elders Urged to Support El-Rufai's Justice

Mallam Jafar Ibrahim Sani, the former North-West National Vice Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), called on Northern elders and political leaders to transcend political differences and uphold justice in the ongoing situation involving former Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. In a statement titled “El-Rufai, The North, Our Elders and the Test of Loyalty,” Sani expressed concern over the diminishing support for El-Rufai from those who were once close to him, highlighting that true loyalty is tested during adversity.

He emphasized that regardless of personal relationships or political disagreements, fairness and due process should guide responses to El-Rufai's situation. Sani stated that justice must prevail, which could lead to the lawful release of El-Rufai if deemed appropriate.

He clarified that El-Rufai did not imply a lack of elders in the North, asserting that the region deserves better living conditions and prosperity, which requires honest reflection and action.
