ADC Chieftain Salihu Lukman Resigns Over El-Rufai Rift

Salihu Mohammed Lukman announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and suspended all activities in the opposition coalition in Kaduna, citing hostile treatment from Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and his supporters. Lukman stated he could no longer tolerate the manipulation of leadership decisions that sidelined him, reducing him to a "status of a bastard" within the coalition he helped build.

He expressed that after over a year of efforts to reconcile opposition leaders, he became a target of an orchestrated campaign against him. Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), decided it was better to be inactive than to chase "dashed expectations." He criticized former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi for engaging individuals in Kaduna with questionable commitment to the ADC while ignoring those who had strengthened the party.

Despite his resignation, he appreciated Senator David Mark and other national leaders, clarifying that his decision was against the treatment from El-Rufai and not a protest against the ADC's national leadership.
