Court to Hear ADC Leadership Challenge Against David Mark

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, will commence accelerated hearings today, June 8, 2023, on a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark. The suit was filed after various processes were exchanged, and it seeks to address allegations of judicial misconduct against Justice Lifu, including claims of corruption and disobedience to court orders.

ADC chieftain Nkemakolam Ukandu has requested Justice Lifu to withdraw from the case, citing a petition against the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, for similar reasons. Additionally, Rauf Aregbesola has filed a suit requesting Lifu's recusal due to a perceived lack of impartiality.

The case has seen multiple motions filed, including one from Nafiu Bala Gomb, seeking to restrain Mark's leadership pending the outcome of the suit. The court has previously ordered that the parties maintain the status quo until the matter is resolved.
