ADC Appeals Court Ruling on State Congress Legitimacy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is set to appeal a ruling from the Court of Appeal in Abuja that upheld a previous Federal High Court decision regarding the legitimacy of its state congresses. The court affirmed that the tenure of ADC's state working committee remains valid until proper congresses are conducted.

This ruling was delivered by a three-man panel led by Justice Abba Moham, with Justices Okon Abang and Joyce Abdulmalik concurring. The ADC, under the leadership of David Mark, has expressed disagreement with the judgment, stating it is legally unsustainable.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national secretary, emphasized the need for unity among members as they pursue the appeal. The ADC's legal team, instructed by Atiku Abubakar, aims to clarify the issues raised in the judgment at the Supreme Court, asserting confidence in the judicial process.

The appeal follows a challenge by aggrieved members regarding the appointment of the caretaker committee and the conduct of state congresses.
