Court Orders Accelerated Hearing in ADC Leadership Suit

The Federal High Court in Abuja has commenced an accelerated hearing regarding a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which is led by Senator David Mark. Justice Peter Lifu issued the order for the hearing to take place on June 8.

The court has directed the parties involved to exchange processes within 48 hours and has instructed its bailiff to serve hearing notices to individuals seeking to join the case within 24 hours. This development follows a Supreme Court judgment that ordered the return of the suit to the trial court after dismissing an appeal filed by David Mark against an interlocutory order.

The plaintiff, Nafiu Bala Gomb, has requested the court to restrain Mark's leadership pending the determination of the suit. The previous trial was adjourned indefinitely due to a request for case transfer.

The court has emphasized the need for an expedited trial process, maintaining the status quo until the matter is resolved.
