ADC Leadership Crisis Deepens with New Chairman in Adamawa

On Sunday, September 13, Dr Markus Peter Danbaki was sworn in as the third factional chairman of the Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His inauguration was conducted by a faction of the party, further complicating the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC.

Prior to Danbaki's emergence, Sadiq Dasin and Alhaji Sai’du Naira were already leading two factions claiming the chairmanship. The situation is exacerbated by a dispute over the ADC governorship ticket for the 2027 election, where Hamman Tukur Modibbo, who placed second in the party's primary election held in May, is recognized as the candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, Omar Suleiman, the primary election winner, is contesting Modibbo's candidacy in court. Danbaki's inauguration took place at a ceremony where Ibrahim Ahmad, a factional legal adviser, administered the oath of office in the presence of his faction's supporters.
