ADC Leadership Crisis Deepens in Adamawa with New Chairman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State is facing a deepening crisis as it now has three claimants to the position of state chairman. Previously, two factions were led by Barrister Sadiq Dasin and Alhaji Sa’idu Naira.

The inauguration of Dr. Markus Peter Danbaki, administered by the factional Legal Adviser Barrister Ibrahim Ahmad, took place in Yola. Danbaki's acceptance speech emphasized an open-door policy and the need for internal democracy to resolve the party's ongoing issues.

He expressed commitment to unity and the well-being of party members, aiming for success in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Danbaki's appointment was formalized in a letter from state Secretary Zubairu Ishaq Mohammed dated August 20, 2026.

Political analysts have raised concerns that the leadership tussle could hinder the ADC's electoral prospects. Additionally, Hassan Muhammadu, the National Assistant Secretary of the ADC, resigned from the party on September 9, 2026, citing personal reflection without detailing specific reasons.
