ADC Crisis in Adamawa: Protest Against Candidate Substitution

The crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa has escalated following a peaceful protest by the 'Adamawa Forward Political Organization' at the party's state secretariat in Yola on Monday. The protest was sparked by the emergence of Ambassador Omar Suleiman Omarana as the ADC's gubernatorial candidate, which has raised concerns among party members about rumors of an attempt to replace him with Hamman Tukur.

Hon. Joshua Buba, the secretary of the organization, expressed discomfort with these unconfirmed claims and urged the party leadership to ensure fairness.

He accused some Abuja-based politicians of trying to impose a candidate on the party, warning that such actions could harm the ADC's prospects in the upcoming 2027 elections. Buba called for intervention from the party's presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, to maintain peace.

Abdulaziz Mohammed, the state Public Relations Officer of the movement, also voiced concerns, stating that allegations linking Atiku to the substitution plot could negatively impact his political future.
