Adamawa ADC Faces Crisis Over Candidate Replacement Claims

The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is currently experiencing a crisis due to allegations regarding a plan to replace its governorship candidate, Suleiman Umar. This situation follows growing concerns and reports of a potential candidate swap involving Abdurrahman Hask.

On a recent Saturday night, 21 local government chairmen met at Mama Chare Hotel in Yola to express their support for Umar, with Girei Local Government Chairman, Atiku Abubakar, stating that the party remains firmly behind Umar. Sadiq Dasin, the party's acting chairman, confirmed that discussions about Umar's replacement have not been communicated to the national level in Abuja and labeled the rumors as unfounded.

However, an anonymous ADC chieftain claimed that plans for Umar's replacement were already concluded. Allegations suggest that Umar requested a meeting to disclose campaign expenses for reimbursement, which has further fueled the controversy.

The ADC is considering the political structure across the 21 local government areas in Adamawa, as it seeks to strengthen its chances in the upcoming elections.
