ADC Announces Congress Timetable Amid INEC Warnings

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released a timetable for its congresses and national convention, aiming for the 2027 general elections. The timetable, disclosed on Friday, includes local government congresses on April 9, state congresses on April 11, and a national convention on April 14, 2026.

The ADC insists on proceeding with its plans despite a warning from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who cautioned that the ADC's congresses and convention may not be monitored due to a prevailing court order. The INEC chairman emphasized that any primary elections conducted by the ADC could be deemed invalid if a court ruling deems the party's leadership crisis illegal.

This situation mirrors previous electoral disputes in Zamfara and Plateau states, where similar issues arose. The ADC's actions come amid ongoing scrutiny regarding its legitimacy and adherence to electoral regulations.
