ADC Calls for Probe into N33.75bn Cash Transfer Program

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the N33.75 billion cash transfer program intended for 3.29 million households, following audit queries from the Auditor-General of the Federation. On Monday, ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed concerns regarding the lack of accountability and transparency in the implementation of social intervention programs.

The Auditor-General’s report indicated that the disbursement of N33.75 billion could not be fully verified, prompting the ADC to call for clear records of public fund expenditures. Abdullahi referenced previous issues within the National Social Investment Programme involving former officials Betta Edu and Halima Shehu, emphasizing the need for transparency in poverty alleviation funds.

He urged the government to publish the full beneficiary register, release payment records, and cooperate with the Auditor-General's office to resolve outstanding queries. The ADC stressed that social intervention programs must effectively support vulnerable Nigerians and insisted on accountability regarding fund distribution.
