ADC Sues Senator Kingibe Over Party Membership Suspension

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has initiated legal action against Senator Kingibe by filing a suit in the Federal High Court in Abuja. The lawsuit, led by the party's lawyer Maxwell Opara, seeks a judicial declaration to affirm the validity of Kingibe's suspension from the party, which was announced by the Wuse Ward Executive Committee just 48 hours prior to the filing.

The plaintiffs, including Okezuo Godfrei Kanayo, the chairman of the ADC Wuse Ward, and Isaiah Ojonugwa Samuel, the ward secretary, argue that Kingibe cannot legally claim membership or present himself as a member of the ADC while under suspension. The suit requests the court to restrain the party's national working committee from recognizing Kingibe as a member during his suspension and to confirm the legitimacy of the Wuse Ward Executive Committee's disciplinary actions.

The case is marked as FHC/ABJ/CS/539/2026 and is filed pursuant to Section 6(6)(b) and Article 16 of the ADC constitution.
