ADC Sues to Block Ireti Kingibe's Membership Claim

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has initiated legal action against Senator Ireti Kingibe to stop her from claiming membership in the party amid her indefinite suspension. The lawsuit was filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja by the party's lawyer, Maxwel Opara, following an announcement from the Wuse Ward Executive Committee just 48 hours prior.

The ADC seeks a judicial declaration confirming that the Wuse Ward Executive Committee has the authority to discipline and suspend party members within its jurisdiction. The plaintiffs, Okezuo Godfrei Kanayo, the chairman of the ADC Wuse Ward, and Isaiah Ojonugwa Samuel, the ward secretary, filed the case on behalf of the committee.

They request the court to declare that Kingibe's suspension is valid and that she cannot legally claim membership or present herself as a card-carrying member of the ADC during the suspension period. The case is marked FHC/ABJ/CS/539/2026 and cites relevant constitutional provisions.
