ADC Risks Disqualification from 2027 Election Ballot

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is at risk of disqualification from the 2027 election ballot due to ongoing delays in a Supreme Court judgment concerning leadership disputes within the party. The Supreme Court has heard arguments related to appeals but has not set a timeline for delivering its judgment, creating uncertainty for the ADC.

The party is currently divided into three factions led by David Mark, Nafiu Bala, and Gomb Ogga, none of which are officially recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This lack of recognition puts the ADC in a precarious position, especially with INEC's deadline of May 10 for political parties to submit their membership registers.

The situation is further complicated by the ongoing crisis within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which has already led to significant changes in party leadership. If the Supreme Court does not resolve the leadership dispute promptly, the ADC risks missing the opportunity to appear on the ballot for the upcoming elections.
