ADC fumes over salary increase for Tinubu, Shettima, Akpabio, others

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticized the proposed salary increase for political office holders in Nigeria, including President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and others. The party called it an insult to the suffering Nigerian people, who are facing inflation, soaring fuel prices, and inadequate minimum wage.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is considering the salary hike, which the ADC argues is disconnected from the harsh reality facing Nigerians. The party highlighted that political office holders already receive substantial allowances and perks, making their current salaries far exceed what ordinary citizens earn.

The ADC demanded that the proposed plan be suspended immediately and that the government focus on improving the lives of the people rather than enriching the political elite. They emphasized the need to prioritize raising the minimum wage and ensuring fair salaries for civil servants.
