Gawuna Negotiates Defection to ADC for 2027 Elections

Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, is reportedly in talks to defect from the New Democratic Congress (NDC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Sources indicate that discussions have escalated beyond the state chapter to the national leadership of the ADC. Gawuna's camp is negotiating for a governorship ticket for the 2027 elections, seeking political accommodation for loyalists.

The ADC's Kano State Chairman, Musa Ungogo, confirmed the ongoing negotiations but did not disclose specific details. Gawuna previously resigned from the NDC in March and aligned with the Kwankwasiyya movement, later accepting the NDC's Kano Central senatorial ticket.

The current discussions involve various stakeholders and aim to address broader political interests ahead of the upcoming elections, raising questions about the durability of new alliances in Kano State's political landscape.
