ADC Opposes Sale of Nigeria's Oil Assets, Urges Protection of Energy Sovereignty

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposes the planned sale of Nigeria's oil assets, calling it a devastating assault on national oil assets. The party's national publicity secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the proposed sale must be stopped to protect Nigeria's energy sovereignty.

The ADC aligns with the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) in rejecting the amendment to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the planned sale of NNPC Limited equity. The party believes that allowing this sale to proceed would undermine Nigeria's energy security and transfer public assets to private hands.

The ADC emphasizes the need to prevent the dismantling of NNPC Limited and maintain institutional checks and balances.
