ADC and PDP Cite Reasons for Absence in Kano Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) provided reasons for their absence from the recent municipal elections in Ungogo, Kano State. Musa Shu Aibu, the ADC state chairman, expressed concerns over alleged misuse of state resources and the political value of contesting.

PDP state chairman Yusuf Ado Kibiya criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for providing only four days to conduct primaries, which he deemed impractical. The elections were held to fill a vacant seat in the Kano State House of Assembly.

Following the death of a former legislator in December, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is reportedly consulting its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to endorse the deceased lawmaker's son as a successor. This move is interpreted as an effort to preserve the political legacy of the late lawmaker.

Additionally, the political landscape has shifted with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's defection from NNPP to APC, affecting the dynamics of the upcoming bye-elections.
