ADC Rejects Tinubu's Endorsement by 500 Islamic Scholars

The Jigawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly rejected the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term by approximately 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders. This endorsement reportedly occurred during the Northern Muslim Intellectual Forum in Dutse, Jigawa State.

The ADC described the endorsement as unfortunate and contrary to Islamic principles, asserting that it should not be viewed as a religious verdict or representative of Nigeria's Muslim community. In a statement signed by Ambassador Nuraddeen Suleiman Jidawa, the ADC expressed concern over religious leaders engaging in partisan politics, urging them to preserve their independence.

The party also challenged claims made in the endorsement's communiqué, particularly regarding the Kano-Dutse/Kano-Maradi railway project, which it stated was initiated by former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration in 2021. Additionally, the ADC criticized the APC-led Federal Government's claims of improved security and economic conditions, citing ongoing incidents of kidnapping and rising living costs due to the removal of the petrol subsidy.
