ADC Responds to Court Ruling on State Congresses

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken action following a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the congresses organized by the party's caretaker leadership. The judgment, delivered by Justice Abdulmalik, stated that the caretaker committee lacked the constitutional authority to organize the congresses, rendering the appointments invalid.

The court affirmed that the tenure of the newly elected state executive committee remains valid and should not be disrupted. In response, the ADC issued a statement through its national public secretary, clarifying that the tenure of the current state executive committee will run its full course.

The legal action was initiated on behalf of six state chairpersons, challenging the interim national leadership's authority to conduct the congresses.
