Court Adjourns ADC Leadership Suit Indefinitely in Abuja

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned indefinitely a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which involves former Senate President David Mark. Justice Emeka Nwite ordered the adjournment sine die after the plaintiff's counsel, Luka Musa Haruna, informed the court about a written request to the Chief Judge for case reassignment.

The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025, stems from a leadership dispute within the ADC following the emergence of David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola in the party's leadership structure. The Supreme Court had previously dismissed an interlocutory appeal filed by Mark, stating it lacked merit.

Haruna also requested the court to await administrative directives regarding the case's reassignment. However, the defense, represented by Realwan Okpanachi and Sulaiman Usman, opposed the request, arguing it aimed to delay proceedings.

Justice Nwite held that the court could not act on the Chief Judge's correspondence without hearing from the parties involved, leading to the indefinite adjournment.
