Atiku's Aide Accuses Tinubu of Undermining Democracy

Atiku Abubakar's media aide has made allegations against President Bola Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming they are collaborating with Nafiu Bala to weaken opposition parties and undermine democracy in Nigeria. This statement was made on Tuesday via a post on social media, previously known as Twitter.

The remarks were prompted by INEC's decision to freeze the recognition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership, which includes a faction led by former Senate President David Mark, pending the resolution of a court case concerning the party's structure. The aide, Ibeh, criticized comments from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, suggesting that Bala is emerging as the national chairman of the ADC, which Ibeh argues contradicts INEC's previous court filings challenging Bala's eligibility to lead the party.

Ibeh further accused the INEC chairman of orchestrating actions that threaten democratic norms, indicating a potential drift towards authoritarian rule in Nigeria.
