APC Members Defect to Labour Party in Benue State

On March 22, 2026, Hon. Philip Agbes, a deputy spokesperson for the House of Representatives representing the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Labour Party (LP) in Benue State.

This move was accompanied by Comrade Toni Christoph Ochub, the ward chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who formally notified the Labour Party of his decision to join. Agbes cited internal challenges within the APC as a motivating factor for his switch, emphasizing the Labour Party's alignment with his vision for effective governance, grassroots development, and empowerment of youth and women.

The defection also involved a significant number of supporters from the APC, ADC, and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), indicating a broader trend of political realignment in the region.
