Atiku Abubakar Plans ADC Primary if Consensus Fails

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and a presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), announced that the party will opt for a presidential primary if a consensus candidate does not emerge. During an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Atiku expressed his willingness to support whoever wins the ADC presidential primary, indicating that he would step aside for a consensus candidate if necessary.

He acknowledged that the 2027 presidential election would mark the final chapter of his long political career, stating he would not seek office beyond this election cycle. Atiku criticized the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu, describing its performance as disappointing.

He also highlighted the importance of mentorship for younger political leaders and the need for a broad coalition to ensure electoral success in Nigeria. Atiku reaffirmed his confidence in his traditional political base in Northern Nigeria and emphasized the necessity of reforming the power rotation system in the country.
