Wike Predicts ADC Will Fail in Rivers State Votes

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will not achieve 10% of the total votes cast in Rivers State during the 2027 presidential election. Speaking at a luncheon honoring candidates from the Rainbow Coalition Political Alliance, which includes members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Wike emphasized that the ADC lacks grassroots mobilization and will not perform well electorally.

He criticized Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the ADC, stating that his previous campaign efforts in Rivers State were insufficient. Wike's political rivalry with Atiku dates back to the 2022 PDP presidential primaries, where Wike was overlooked for the vice-presidential slot in favor of Ifeanyi Okowa.

This decision led to a crisis within the PDP and Wike's formation of the G5 group of aggrieved governors, who withdrew their support for Atiku's 2023 campaign.
