ADC Youth League Backs INEC, Rejects David Mark Faction

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) youth league has expressed its support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following its decision to suspend the faction led by David Mark, which they deem illegitimate. The youth league, represented by its chairman Lawali Hassan, criticized the Mark faction for allegedly attempting to hijack the party through undemocratic means, undermining public trust.

They highlighted that INEC's actions are based on a court appeal judgment dated March 12, 2023, affirming its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's electoral integrity. The ADC youth league urged all stakeholders to respect INEC's authority and adhere to legal processes.

They recognized the need for true leadership within the ADC and reaffirmed their commitment to the party's foundational ideals. The league commended INEC for its decision to remove David Mark's name from its portal, reflecting the current legal stance and preventing confusion regarding the legitimacy of the party's leadership.

They called for constructive dialogue among political actors within the ADC to honor democratic principles.
