ADC Protest in Jigawa Demands INEC Recognition of Mark

Supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) staged a protest in Jigawa State, demanding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognize the leadership of David Mark, a former Senate President. The protest, led by ADC youth leader Manniru Aminu, was peaceful and aimed at addressing concerns over INEC's handling of party affairs, which they accused of breaching democratic principles.

The protesters submitted a petition to INEC's state headquarters, highlighting their grievances and urging the commission to restore the legitimate leadership of the ADC. Aminu argued that INEC lacks the constitutional authority to interpret court rulings, emphasizing that the Mark-led leadership is the constitutionally recognized authority of the party.

The group described INEC's actions as unconstitutional and called for the immediate resignation of INEC's chairman, Ibrahim Idri, while expressing their concerns over maintaining public trust in Nigeria's democratic process.
