ADC Leadership Crisis Deepens with Caretaker Committee

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is experiencing intensified internal strife as a bloc of state chairmen has announced the formation of a caretaker committee, claiming control of the party following the removal of David Mark as the party leader. This development, which occurred on a Tuesday, involves support from chairmen representing 25 states backing the ADC's 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.

The newly appointed chairman of the caretaker committee is Kingslei Ogga from Kogi State, with other key roles filled by various state chairmen. The leadership crisis stems from a protracted dispute regarding the tenure of former chairman Ralph Nwosu, whose term ended in August 2022.

Legal battles have ensued over the legitimacy of leadership claims, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) involved in the matter. The ADC is currently split into three factions, complicating its position as it prepares for the upcoming 2027 elections.
