Adefunke Adeyemi Champions Africa's Aviation Future

Adefunke Adeyemi, the Secretary General of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), is leading efforts to advance Africa's aviation sector through the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). During the African Air Transport Convention and Expo held from June 5 to June 19, 2026, Adeyemi underscored the need for collaboration among policymakers, regulatory bodies, airlines, airport operators, and investors to create a cohesive aviation ecosystem.

The convention aimed to reflect on the progress made since the launch of SAATM in 2018 and to discuss strategies for improving connectivity, affordability, and sustainable infrastructure in the aviation sector. Adeyemi's leadership has been pivotal in building partnerships aligned with the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to enhance air transport's economic contribution across the continent.

The convention served as a platform to foster dialogue and commitment towards achieving the goals outlined in Africa's Agenda 2063.
