Adebayo Adelabu Resigns as Nigeria's Power Minister

Adebayo Adelabu has officially resigned from his position as Minister of Power in Nigeria, with his resignation taking effect on April 30, 2026. He submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu on April 22, 2023, which was acknowledged by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

In his letter, Adelabu expressed deep honor and profound gratitude for the privilege of serving in the federal cabinet and emphasized the need for a smooth transition of responsibilities. He noted that his resignation would allow him to focus on his ambition to become the governor of Oyo State, a goal he has pursued since voluntarily resigning as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2018.

Adelabu highlighted the critical role of the power sector in Nigeria's industrial growth and economic transformation.
