Adeleke Appoints Victoria Samson as UNIOSUN Chancellor

On May 10, 2026, Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, appointed Victoria Samson, popularly known as Bova, as the new chancellor of Osun State University, succeeding Folorunso Alakija, whose tenure lasted from 2016 to 2026. This announcement was made following the completion of Alakija's term, which ended on March 18, 2026.

Adeleke expressed gratitude towards Alakija for her decade-long service and significant contributions, particularly her donations to medical facilities, including a multi-billion naira medical research and training hospital. Victoria Samson, born on December 5, 1949, is the founder of Bova Oil and Gas Company and has played a crucial role in Nigeria's oil and gas industry.

She has expanded her business to a network of 200 service stations and has received several accolades, including the Texaco Latin America West Africa Lawa Award in 1990. Adeleke praised Samson's achievements in the business sector and expressed confidence that her leadership would further enhance the university's academic infrastructure.
