Governor Adeleke Mourns Juju Music Legend Yekini Ajao

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned juju musician Yekini Ajao, who reportedly passed away following multiple surgeries in a hospital in India, marking the end of a long and impactful career that spanned decades. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, on Tuesday, Adeleke paid glowing tribute to Ajao, highlighting his influence as a pioneer in the juju and makosa music genres.

Ajao was described as a close friend and a towering figure in Nigeria's music industry. The governor recalled Ajao's significant role in Osun State's history, noting that he performed at the inauguration of Adeleke's late brother, Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, the first executive governor of the state.

Born in Iseyin, Oyo State, Ajao began his music journey at age nine and rose to prominence with his debut album "Soromi Dayo." His unique style and energetic performances earned him a lasting legacy in the music scene.
