Adeleke Pledges Support for Osun Rainstorm Victims

On March 28, 2026, a heavy rainstorm in Osogbo, Osun State, led to considerable damage, including a large billboard toppling onto a truck, disrupting traffic. Governor Ademola Adeleke, through his spokesperson Olawal Rashe, described the incident as unfortunate and expressed deep sympathy for the affected residents.

He assured that the government would provide support to those impacted and that the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) would address the losses incurred. Adeleke highlighted the increasing occurrences of natural disasters due to climate change and urged residents to adopt measures such as tree planting to reduce environmental risks.

He directed relevant ministries to work on clearing affected roads to prevent further accidents. This incident occurred amid broader weather predictions from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, forecasting normal to above-normal rainfall in several parts of the country, including the southwest.
