Adeleke Calls Emergency Meeting Amid Rising Attacks in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke summoned an emergency security council meeting following a surge in attacks that have resulted in the destruction of public property across the state. The meeting, disclosed in a statement on Monday by spokesperson Olawal Rashe, is a response to escalating security concerns allegedly linked to political violence.

Scheduled to take place at the governor's office, the meeting will involve service command representatives and focus on addressing the threat posed by thuggery, which Adeleke claims is perpetrated by individuals associated with the Progressive Congress (APC). The governor questioned why law enforcement agents have not arrested those responsible for the attacks, which threaten public peace.

Additionally, the security council aims to develop strategies to prevent further incidents and restore public confidence in security agencies, especially in light of heightened political tension ahead of the August 15 governorship election. Reports indicate that campaign materials belonging to Adeleke's campaign have been vandalized, with APC's spokesperson Oluremi Omowaiy denying the allegations and describing them as politically motivated.
